What to Expect
Our 60-hour certification course includes six separate units, in which you’ll learn everything from interpreting modes and roles to International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA) ethics, standards, and university-level medical terminology.

The entire course is designed to be completed within six weeks, but it can be accomplished in as little as two or spread out over a longer period to fit your busy schedule. You are given six months to complete the course with extension if needed
Upon completion, you’ll earn your IMIA - CMIE-accredited medical interpreter certificate and walk away with the requisite skills needed to perform at a professional level and be eligible to take the CMI Certification Exam.
Affordable Tuition and Enrollment Options
QUALIFY FOR ENROLLMENT
To ensure our student’s success, we require all candidates to be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and have proof of at least 3 years of work experience as an interpreter or a worker in the healthcare field.
At MiTio, we aim to make learning as accessible as possible—and that includes cost. You can pay upfront to automatically receive a 30 percent price reduction. We offer open enrollment throughout the year, so you can start your training whenever it’s convenient for you.
In addition, we ask candidates to demonstrate their fluency in English and their target language by providing one or more of the following documents:

A diploma from a country in which your target language is spoken

A transcript that shows 15+ credit hours completed in your target language

Test scores from a course in your target language
If you can’t provide any of the above documentation, you can qualify by completing a 15 to 30 minute oral language assessment through Language Testing International (LTI) or ALTA. This assessment can be completed remotely and tests for fluency in English and your target language only—no interpreting or medical expertise required! Contact MiTio to take the test. There is an additional fee to take the test. Prices vary depending on the language.
