MITIO Diploma The Medical Interpreting and Translating Institute Online (MITIO) is an accredited online diploma program that is designed to provide the workforce skills necessary to become a professional caliber medical interpreter.

Who can Enroll?

Click on this link to Enroll in MITIO. You must also be fully bilingual that means that you are fluent in English and another language such as Spanish and you can speak, read, and write in both languages with the fluency of a native.

How does it work?

MITIO provides open enrollment, i.e. students can enroll and start the program at any time during the year. The program is self paced and designed to be completed within 6 weeks. The courses are all online, which means the student must have access to the internet throughout the program. The program platform is Blackboard, a recognized industry leading platform for online course delivery.

The program is fully self contained, meaning the student does not need to purchase any additional materials to complete the diploma. The faculty consists of masters and doctoral degreed individuals with both interpreting and medical expertise.

The course is language neutral, all of the material is in English, the student will translate materials into their native language.

Students are expected to participate in weekly telephone practice sessions to improve their interpreting skills, and in online discussion boards.

What is the tuition?  The tuition for the program is $125 per unit. Completion of six units required to obtain diploma.
